The Art Of Planning: Making Before Taking The Plunge

Adnan has published an excellent post where he shows you in-deep how to plan and structure your life and business.

Work Log 2007-10-16

I have been working quite hard lately and really got things done. Unfortunately I have not been able to release the sites I have planned for the different reasons. Everything gets delayed. My bigggest problem now is that I have no graphic designer and css coder with the skills I am looking for and in the price level I am looking for. Because of this I am doing some stuff myself and that means that the quality is not as good and the time I should spend making money I am designing. Not good.

  • I have started to do some small design changes to the price comparison script I recently got developed. Unfortunately dreamweaver is crashing each time I am opening a file called header.php. I mean this might sound crazy. But any file named header.php makes the program crash.
  • A questions and answers site I have hade developed are now very near its release. We have had some problems with the payment integration but are now on are way to solve it with some help from our service provider.
  • I am also working on a big project which is a sort of marketing tool for advertisers that wants to advertise on blogs. It is called Blogsponsor and we are working hard now to release it as soon as possible. This project will be aimed mostly to European markets with Scandinavia as our first.
  • I am about to close a deal on an office here in my home town. It is around 25 kvm big and the cost is no more thatn $200 per month.

Johanna

A friend and a collegue was found dead in her home yesterday. For some unknown reason she had died in her sleep. She was only 21 years old.

The thoughts are spinning around in my head. Anger mixed with sorrow. This will be the only post today here. A post to honor Johanna.

Rest in peace…

A new script ready

My developers are working full speed and today they delivered the project that they have been working on for the last month.

It is a price comparision script that is built to compare prices between different service providers like accountants, hairdressers and other companies providing services. A not products like most other price comparision sites. I will use this script myself for the Swefish market and are planning to sell about 10 licenses to other people that want to use this script on other markets an niches. If you want one we can customize it for your niche.

Today I have been going through the script looking for bugs, translating the language file and made other customizations to make it ready for launch. More on these projects later.

Virtual Real Estate

VRE

During my 8 years activly doing business online I have come to build up a quite big and also quite good domain collection. Apart from this I also have a really big collection of scripts and softwares aimed to be used on these domains.

A lot of these domains has been laying around for years and have never really been active at all. Some of them has grown quite strong and are still domains I see potential in. Because of this I decided to clean up this domain portfolio and only save the domains I see a real use for now and in the future. About 100 domains has been cleaned out. Some of them I sold, and some of them just got deactivated since I saw no real value in them.

After doing this I started to think of my domains and websites more like virtual real estate. Like an investment both long term and short term. Something that can be of great value in the future but also give me a steady cash flow from the start. In other words. None of my domains will be just laying around. My goal is to have all of them up and runing soon.

To help me with realizing this goal I now have an awesome team of coders. Two that works full time and one that works half time to satisfy my needs. The goals is that they will build at least one script a month. And so far they have. The good thing is that I often can use the same script on multiple sites and since they started 3 months ago over 10 websites are ready to launsche or relaunched. With a unique script the value of these websites get even higher. Something that might help in the future if I would sell any of the sites.

Regarding building traffic for these sites I have more and more started to focus on SEO. From being a total noob in this area I have gone to quite good. I have now managed to climb to the top 5 in Google for some very important keywords for some of my sites. It took some time but with good on-site optimization and relevant an high quality link building I have managed to get a steady and growing position for these sites on Google.

It feels like things are suddenly going in the right direction from me after a few years of bad investments and big mistakes. I have learned a lot from those years but maybe now the real big money will start rolling in. Anyway. You can expect a few really nice sites to be launched by me in the near future.

Affiliate links - To hide or not?

Affiliate links

OBSERVE: This blog post has been moved from the blog motivational articles to this new entrepreneur blog.

This subject has been discussed on a couple of other blogs and I thought it would be nice to take on this discussion here too.

It is about affiliate links and if you as the blog owner should show that your are getting paid to link to that certain site. Many bloggers are adding an (aff.) after an affiliate link (aff. meaning affiliate), personally I do not think this is a good solution, it only looks strange and as John Chow wrote, it destroys the flow of the article.

How much should a blogger need to disclose to his users? When you go to a business blog that writes about making money online do you not expect to run in to some advertisement?

A new beginning

A new beginning

This was a quite hard decision but I came to the conlusion that it was a good solution for my future as a blogger. From today this domain andreasbard.net has taken over the business and make money online part from my other blog andreasbard.com.

Andreasbard.com will now fully focus on motivational articles and push more on personal develpment. I am going to give you an overdose with motivation.

Andreasbard.net will be my business diary. Here you will be able to follow me on a daily basis where I attend meetings, seminars, make deals, make mistakes and whatever else that might happen during a day in my life as a business owner.

I hope you will visit both of the blogs and I promise you that from now on my blogging is on whole different level. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
